Gerszten, MD,<\/strong> is the Chief of Cardiovascular Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.\u00a0 He is the Herman Dana Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and also a Senior Associate Member of the Broad Institute.\u00a0 Dr. Gerszten graduated from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, did his residency at the University of Pennsylvania, and his clinical fellowship in Cardiology at MGH.\u00a0 Over the past decade, the Gerszten laboratory has built a nationally recognized program in translational research, integrating emerging metabolomic and proteomic approaches towards the identification of novel disease pathways and biomarkers.\u00a0 An area of particular focus is the application of these tools to identify those most likely to benefit from clinical interventions in cardiometabolic diseases.\u00a0 His highly interactive program collaborates across a spectrum of institutions, from the Broad Institute to the Framingham Heart Study and the TIMI Study Group.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Robert E.
